Okay its a Friday, just one of those days where a majority of the things I begin searching for make me end up in a beautiful haven of chaotic wonderful messiness that just ends up inspiring me.
In other words, I have no idea what I’m searching for on some days. Sometimes the days make me feel like I am struggling to pull something inspiring and amazing out of the art world.
Other days, like yesterday for example, Things are simple and calm and easy. Tis the nature of the web/art/life I suppose 
On a totally random note, I didn’t realize that Abduzeedo was the lead graphic designer at Google. hrmph! Good for him! If you haven’t seen abduzeedo, it is a great website: www.abduzeedo.com that I just can’t check a lot due to my connection currently blocking some of the content.

Inspiration Series: Paul D. Nicholl’s Golden Age of Somewhere
I saw Paul D. Nicholl’s project (Follow @PaulDNicholls on twitter) in his Behance gallery (opens in a new tab) and had to post this. It was just too mind-blowing of a project. I couldn’t let this pass. This is the exerpt from his project page:
As Marc Auge explains in his book ‘Non Places’ “If a place can be defined as relational, historical and concerned with identity, then a space which cannot be defined as relational, or historical, or concerned with identity will be a non-place .
“Many of our everyday tasks and pastimes will cease to attach themselves to particular spots and slots set aside for their performance workplaces and working hours, theatres and performance time, home and your own time – and will henceforth be multiplexed and overlaid…” (Mitchel ‘City Of Bits’). This would have profound influence on the way in which we think about the home. If we are living within this multiplexed environment where anyplace can be anyplace, then how can we mentally attach ourselves to any one place? Is the mind left wanting?
In the future the notion of offline will be an abstract thought. We will form radical relationships between our self and our surroundings. The global becomes the local, everywhere is a portal to anywhere else, leaving the notion of place questioning its identity in a database of possible environments.

We are the things we possess, we are that to which we are attached. Attachment has no nobility. Attachment to knowledge is not different from any other gratifying addiction. Attachment is self-absorption, whether at the lowest or at the highest level. Attachment is self-deception, it is an escape from the hollowness of the self. The things to which we are attached, property, people, ideas, become all-important, for without the many things which fill its emptiness, the self is not. The fear of not being makes for possession; and fear breeds illusion, the bondage to conclusions. Conclusions, material or ideational, prevent the fruition of intelligence, the freedom in which alone reality can come into being; and without this freedom, cunning is taken for intelligence. The ways of cunning are always complex and destructive. It is this self-protective cunning that makes for attachment; and when attachment causes pain, it is this same cunning that seeks detachment and finds pleasure in the pride and vanity of renunciation. The understanding of the ways of cunning, the ways of the self, is the beginning of intelligence.

Attachment is part of the ego. The ego is a very insecure thing. Yes, your ego. I mean that ego that makes you want to do something successful or look pretty or what have you. What Krishnamurti is saying is that the ego is very cunning and deceptive and will do anything to preserve itself. All of Buddhism is about breaking down and becoming self-aware of the ego. Once you are aware how tricky the ego can be, you have more awareness about yourself and perhaps even those around you. (Once I get more into the Emotional Intelligence book I’m sure I can pull more anthro/socio/psychological sciences into this discussion). Anyways
So as far as what Paul Nicholls was asking with his project, it is very possible to be left wanting, but the solution to wanting IS emptiness and openness. To be aware of the want is the doorway to giving you a choice about how you react
